Google's Android OS set to power one billion phones in 2014

Google's Android mobile operating system will be capable of powering one billion phones in 2014, according to a recent survey. Android is reported to have increased its share in 2013 by 12 percent over 2012, powering more than 758 million smartphones of the global market. According to News 24, despite Apple selling a record number of iPhones, its iOS that powered the iPhone saw a declining share, from 19.1 percent in 2012 to 15.6 percent last year. Meanwhile, OS Windows Phone from Microsoft pulled away from Blackberry, strengthening its third place position, with 3.2 percent over 2.5 percent in 2012.
