Android hands-on workshop at Manipal from Feb 21

The School of Information Sciences (SOIS), Manipal in association with Tonse Technologies Ltd, Manipal will organize a three-day workshop on software development on Android, a popular mobile operating system, from February 21 to 23.The purpose of the workshop is to introduce software developers to mobile application development. It has also been planned to conduct series of workshops to help engineering and degree college students to develop their own applications on mobile. The workshop will also enable the participants to take up interesting projects on mobile app development.The chief guest Manjunatha Maiya, Senior Manager, Philips Innovation and the guest of honour Yunus Mohammad Tonse, CEO of Tonse Technologies, according to the President of the workshop Prof. Harishchandra Hebbar, Officiating Director, SOIS.The workshop will be a complete hands-on session to develop application on Android mobile platform. Basic building block like android architecture, activity, layout, Intents, SQLlite, Notification and server interaction from a mobile phone will be taught during the workshop. Gaurav Sinha, a freelancer, with a good experience in android, will take the participants through the workshop.The workshop will be held at the Wireless lab, Lower ground 2, Academic Block 5, MIT campus, School of Information Sciences, Manipal University.
